Operation Underground Railroad (O.U.R.) exists to rescue children from sex trafficking.
Recently, Larry King interviewed O.U.R.'s founder, Tim Ballard. Something we learned -- there are more than 35 million slaves in the world today, right now!
By SLAVES we mean people who are OWNED by someone else and forced by them to perform labor or sexual acts.
Nearly 2 million of these slaves are children.
Stop and put this into perspective.
Most people mistakenly believe that in the modern world, slavery has been eradicated. The awful truth is there are more people illegally held in slavery today than ever before.
In fact, at this single moment in time, the number of humans in bondage is 2 to 3 times the total number of people enslaved during the entire 350-year history of the transatlantic slave trade.
It's a dark subject but Operation Underground Railroad is a place of hope. In many ways, it is like the original Underground Railroad of the 19th century that helped rescue so many people from slavery before the US Civil War.
One cannot take in the story of Tim Ballard and this amazing organization without being moved. We hope you will take a few minutes to find out more.
